This bourbon chicken recipe is one of the Chinese chicken recipes that uses alcohol to flavor the chicken. The unique flavor makes it a popular demand.
Mix all the marinade ingredients together in a large bowl until all the sugar has dissolved.
Drain the chicken from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later use.
Mix the cornstarch with a little water in a small cup and set it aside.
Heat oil in a large non-stick pot or wok on high. Add the chicken and cook it a few minutes until its color becomes brown. Then stir in the reserved marinade slowly and bring it to a boil.
When it comes to choose bourbon, some say Kentucky bourbon is the best. I use Jim Beam. It's widely available and inexpensive; and best of all, it makes my chicken wonderfully flavored!
